The many beautiful things to see make of Colmurano a natural jewel full of charm for who wants to stretch his eyes from the infinite of the Sibillini Mounts and of the surrounding hill to the sea. Colmurano, a little town of 1300 inhabitants, is situated on a hill on the left side of the wide valley of the Fiastra river, 400 meters above the sea level and half way both to the sea and to the mountains, where the mysterious peace that reigns and natural beauties that you can see will remind you to the paradise.
The visitA walk through Colmurano has to start along the castle walls dating back to the 14th and 15th century from where you can admire an extraordinary panorama which stretches from Sibillini Mounts to the green hills that reach the Adriatic Sea. Near the eastern walls it rises the Chiesa della SS Annunziata (Church of the Most Holy Annunciation) that stands out for the earthenware portal decorated with a floral theme, majolica tiled basins and, inside it, the “Il Presepe” (“The Nativity Scene”) frescoed by G.A. De Magistris. Then you can keep on walking alongside the castle western walls strengthened by a tower defending the Saint Roch door, the only one entrance left of the ancient castle. Inside the homonymous former church there is the “Madonna in trono” (“Madonna sitting on the throne”) fresco realized by Marchigiano di Giorgio. Coming back to Piazza Umberto I, we suggest you to visit the Chiesa parrocchiale di San Donato (Saint Donatus parish church). To end with, in viale De Amicis (De Amicis street) there is the very interesting “R.Contratti Ventura” Museum: Contratti Ventura is a famous drawer and cartoonist, spokesperson of Art deco and defined as “ the most brilliant interpreter of the postwar femininity”.
Do not missMuseo "R. Contratti Ventura".
